The D1 visa index applies for tourism purposes, while the D2 index is for business activities. Both allow a maximum stay of up to 60 days per visit.
Applying for a Multiple Entry Visa is simple. Applications are submitted online through evisa.imigrasi.go.id, and payments can be made with a credit card. “This visa provides convenience for foreigners with high mobility,” said Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim.
Since the launch of online visa applications in January 2023, the process has become easier as applicants no longer need to visit Indonesian embassies or consulates abroad. This change has contributed to the gradual recovery of foreign tourist arrivals.
International tourist arrivals to Indonesia remain on a positive trend. According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in July 2025, foreign tourist visits reached 1.48 million, up 13% compared to July 2024. This marks a strong achievement for the tourism sector during global recovery.
Interestingly, in the same month, the average length of stay for foreign tourists in Indonesia was 10.52 nights, with significant variations depending on nationality. This suggests that visitors are not only making short stops but also contributing more to the economy through longer stays and spending.

The Directorate General of Immigration emphasized that visa policies are designed to ensure Indonesia attracts quality foreign visitors. Similar requirements also apply in countries like Australia and across Europe.
“The President has made it clear that digitalization is the solution to make public services faster, easier, and better,” said Silmy. The online application process reflects this directive, ensuring greater convenience for applicants.
How to Apply for a Multiple Entry Visa Indonesia
To apply for a Visa Kunjungan Beberapa Kali Perjalanan (VKBP) or Multiple Entry Visa, a foreign applicant must have a guarantor in Indonesia, such as a corporation or company. Applications can be submitted online via visa-online.imigrasi.go.id or through Indonesian embassies abroad. The official government fee (PNBP) is Rp 3,000,000 per person per year.
The main requirements include:
- A valid passport with at least 18 months validity.
- A letter of guarantee from a sponsor (except for tourism purposes).
- Proof of sufficient funds for living expenses for themselves or family members during their stay, shown through bank statements, savings books, or deposits from the last 3 months, amounting to at least USD 2,000 or equivalent.
- A return ticket or onward ticket (not required for crew members joining ships).
- A recent color photograph taken within the last 3 months with a white background.
The Multiple Entry Visa can be used for business meetings, tourism, government duties, purchasing goods, conferences, humanitarian reasons, and transit. However, the visa does not allow foreigners to work in Indonesia.
