Starting October 2020, the Indonesian Government launched the Electornic Visa (eVisa). The Regulation of Ministry of Law and Human Rights No. 20/2020 has published to enable eVisa and replacing visa label/sicker.

This visa is given to foreigners who will travel to Indonesia for visits

Limited Stay eVisa

This Stay Visa is given to foreigners who will enter and stay in the Indonesian Territory within a certain period of time.

Visitor eVisa

This visa is given to foreigners who will travel to Indonesia for visits, the visit visa is divided into two (2), among others:

The validity period of a residence permit is no longer than 60 (sixty) days and can be extended 4 (four) times, each time a residence permit is granted for a maximum of 30 (thirty) days. A one-time visit visa can be used by foreigners to enter and stay in Indonesia for tourism, family, social, cultural arts, government duties, non-commercial sports, comparative studies, short courses or short training courses, business talks, purchasing of goods, lectures or seminars, international exhibitions, meetings held by head office or representatives in Indonesia, Visits industry & Journalistic visits as well as documentary film making.

Granting visit visas for multiple trips with a visa validity period of 12 (twelve) months years given to foreigners in the context of family, social, cultural arts, government duties, conducting business talks, purchasing goods, attending seminars, participating in international exhibitions, attending meetings held with the head office or representatives in Indonesia; and continue the journey to another country.
The grant of visiting visas for multiple trips can also be granted to foreign ex-Indonesian citizens with a visa validity period of 5 (five) years.
The validity period of the residence permit is no longer than 60 (sixty) days per visit and cannot be extended.

Visit Visas are divided by index:

Tourism, family, socio-cultural, governmental and business activities include:

  • Tours;
  • Family;
  • Social;
  • Art and culture;
  • Government duties;
  • Sports that are not commercial in nature; 
  • Comparative studies, short courses and short lectures;
  • Doing business talks;
  • Make purchases of goods; 
  • Give lectures or attend seminars;
  • Take part in international exhibitions;
  • To attend meetings held with the head office or representatives in Indonesia;
  • Continue traveling to other countries;
  • Join the transportation means in the Indonesian Territory;
  • To do emergency and urgent work.

Industrial visiting activities include, among others: a. provide guidance, counseling and training in the application and innovation of industrial technology to improve the quality and design of industrial products as well as foreign marketing cooperation for Indonesia; b. conduct audits, control production quality or inspections at company branches in Indonesia; c. prospective foreign workers in the trial.

Journalistic activities and non-commercial films include: a. journalism that has received permission from the competent agency; b. non-commercial film making and has obtained a permit from the competent authority; and c. coupled with activities as stated in index B211A.

Limited Stay eVisa

Limited stay visa is given to foreigners who will enter and stay in the Indonesian Territory within a certain time. For foreigners who hold a limited stay visa in purpose to work, a residence permit and re-entry permit are granted to upon arrival at certain airports / ports. For foreigners who hold a limited stay visa not in the context of working, they are required to report to the immigration office according to their domicile for reporting / registration and can be extended up to 5 (five) times.

A limited stay visa for work is used by foreigners to enter and stay in Indonesia for a certain time in order to work in Indonesia. The coverage of working for foreigners include: as a worker experts, joining to work on ships or floating equipment or offshore installations operating in the territorial waters of the archipelago, as clergy, professional activities by receiving payment, making commercial films, control of the quality of goods or production, inspection or audit of the company’s branch offices in Indonesia, after-sales, installing and repairing machines, non-permanent work in construction, musical performances or commercial sports, medical and prospective foreign workers testing skills.

Granting visit visas for multiple trips with a visa validity period of 12 (twelve) months years given to foreigners in the context of family, social, cultural arts, government duties, conducting business talks, purchasing goods, attending seminars, participating in international exhibitions, attending meetings held with the head office or representatives in Indonesia; and continue the journey to another country.

With the intention of working as an Expert in International Organizations under the United Nations.

With the intention of working, including:

  • As an expert;
  • Join to work on ships, floating equipment, or installations operating in the archipelago waters, territorial sea, or continental shelf, as well as the Indonesian Exclusive Economic Zone;
  • Carry out their duties as clergy;
  • Carry out activities related to the profession by receiving payment;
  • Carry out activities in the framework of making commercial films and have obtained permission from the competent agency;
  • Supervise the quality of goods or production;
  • Conduct inspections or audits at company branches in Indonesia; serving after-sales;
  • Install and repair the machine
  • Performing non-permanent work in the context of construction; performing arts, music and sports performances;
  • Holding professional sports activities;
  • Carry out medical activities; and
  • Prospective foreign workers who will work in the context of testing skills.

With the intention of not for working. This type of Visa is given to foreign investor for period of 1 (one) year and 2 (two) years.

With the intention of not working, but for training and research.

With the intention of not working, but for education purpose.

With the intention of not working, but for the purpose of family unification as follows:

  • Foreigners who join themselves with husbands or wives who are Indonesian citizens;
  • Foreigners who join the husband or wife who hold a limited stay permit or permanent stay permit;
  • Children resulting from a legal marriage between foreigners and Indonesian citizens;
  • Children who are under 18 (eighteen) years of age and have not yet married from foreigners who are legally married to Indonesian citizens; and
  • Children who are not yet 18 (eighteen) years old and have not yet married who are joining their parents who hold a limited stay permit or permanent residence permit.

With the intention of not working, but for repatriation.

With the intention of not working, but as foreign elderly tourists
